Agapophyta astridae Schouteden, 1933

male
Agapophyta astridae female
Specimen data (Holotype): V 1929, Bireun, Sumatra, Indonesia (©ISNB)

Comments : this species, omitted in the key Blöte gave in his 1945 paper, is known only by the female type. It is quite surprising to find a representative of this genus so far West, the repartition of all the other species being restricted to Papua and Northen Australia. As the specimen was brought back by an expedition made by Prince Leopold on his yacht, it may be supposed that either a labelling mistake was made, or that the bug got onboard the ship during its stay in Papua, which she visited before Indonesia, and was then captured during the stay in Sumatra.
